This month, we are spotlighting activist and Weaver, Batul Alamdar (she/her). Batul is an Indian Youth Activist who is a current fellow in our 2025 Weavership cohort and she is doing a residency with YouthxYouth.
Batul is a 19 year old student and activist promoting sustainable development and quality education. She was an Edtech Coach for 4 years and has trained over 10 teachers and 50+ students virtually. She loves public speaking, compering and research work on the curricular note whereas her day to day life hobbies include cooking, gardening, writing and a few adventurous activities.
As a youth activist, it's her long term goal that the generation coming up ahead won't face the same issues that the current generation has been pushing themselves through.

We asked Batul a few questions to hear about her journey as a Weaver and more about her work. Here's what she had to say:
YouthxYouth: What does weaving mean to you?
Batul: “Weaving for me is bringing together like minds for a collective goal which helps shape a better future and promises to create a safe and happy place in the present. A weaving space symbolises a place close to feeling home, a safe and open to all platform whereas the weavers are the pillar of this home, upholding the spirits and forming a strong foundation for the long term goal.”

YouthxYouth: Why did you apply to the Weavership program? Share your weavership experience so far.
Batul: “At first I didn't have a single reason to apply for this Weavership Program, I had multiple things to achieve in my head back then (some of which have already started shaping). Hearing people's perspectives and stories, connecting with them and learning how to weave spaces to bring more minds and hearts together was one of the big reasons. With a very curious mind, the Weavership Program gave me hope to find my “why” for youth activism and as I was looking for places to grow and learn together, this one ignited the spark in the most beautiful way.
As of today I've attended 5-6 sessions each whether it be the Study Circles or the main Weavership Program in itself and it's safe to say that the more I learn and give attention, the more curiosity builds and everytime I keep waiting to look forward to one more awesome session ahead. This journey so far has been no less than a home of buzzing bees, everyone's sharing, learning and growing together within a cozy space. It's the wonderful experiences and the sweetest, most welcoming and warm community that keeps me on my toes for the upcoming meetings.”

YouthxYouth: What are you currently working on within your changemaking?
Batul: “As of today, I'm the founder and CEO of an organization led by students for students. I've always wanted to initiate a platform or weave a space to bring up the unheard talents and voices of today's youth and give them more than just a chance, a theatre of all like minded people for performing and showcasing what they love. I'm currently working on inculcating the same values that I had in mind during the thought processing of this platform.”
YouthxYouth: What inspires you in your work?
Batul: “It's my people whether it be family friends, my batchmates to be honest any living being that makes me happy at this point. Knowing that today's generation has a whole different variation of people, there are some who are suffering from a lot of problems and then there are people who are wealthy enough to help those who are in need. It's those people who find the tiniest sparks towards making this world a better place. “

YouthxYouth: If you could offer one piece of advice to all youth activists, what would it be?
Batul: There will be times when you would not like to continue something that you are already willing to complete. It could be because of social pressure or anxiety or anything of that sort which is bothering you within yourself but trust me when I say that it's just a phase and you will pass it eventually and shine brighter, reach higher heights and you will succeed and complete the goal that you have. Let time do it's thing and be happy always.
We’re excited to follow Batul’s continued journey as the remarkable weaver and youth activist she is and if you’d like to also stay connected with her inspiring work, follow her on Instagram and LinkedIn!
